Web Library 2.0

It's so great to read about many of these technology issues that are undoubtedly impacting and challencing the new definition of a "Library" and what services should we be expected to provide. A comment about how libraries are generally poorly equipped and under staffed is so true. Certainly in our corner of Australia our library holds a very low priority in funding and enthusiasm from our Council. I'll be quick to clarify that it's not the staff who are not enthusiastic, it's the "higher up" decision makers who are letting us down - and therefore providing the community with a slightly second rate access to library services. How can we possibly train our library users toward a more "technological" Library when we are under staffed? Its great to have access - never-the-less - to open discussions about these issues. Communication is one of the keys to progress. Action made upon these communications is also a key. But "all talk" and no action - made on the internet, will in the end not get us far. We need acknowledgemnet from our Councils and governments that Libraries should become seen as a high priority in education of all ages.
